Services in the Residential Homes

Every month four small teams of individuals from all the local Axminster churches enjoy sharing in a simple act of worship in each of our four local residential homes:

2nd Thursday of the month: Oak House at 11.00 a.m.
3rd Tuesday of the month: Tudor Cottage at 2.45 p.m.
3rd Saturday of the month: Magnolia House at 11.00 a.m.
4th Thursday of the month: Silverleigh at 11.00 a.m.

We have a planning meeting to prepare for each month’s services on the 4th Tuesday in the month, and we do need more people to help as the existing teams are also getting older!   So if anyone is able to give an hour a month to this important quiet work, please let us know and come and join us.  You can choose the day or time when you are available.

Axminster Job Club

Every Thursday morning between 9.00 am and 12.00 noon in Pippins Community Centre on the corner of Stoney Lane and Lyme Road.

The Job Club is a friendly and supportive centre for Job Seekers.  It provides information about local vacancies and offers help with everything from CVs to interview techniques, as well as access to on-line laptops.  The club networks with local training and support agencies and is being used by employers to identify potential employees.   Tea and toast are provided too!

We have the backing of several agencies including Honiton Job Centre, and Action East Devon. The National Careers Service and East Devon Citizens Advice are present every Thursday to advise and support our visitors when required.  Started by Axminster Churches Together as a service to the local area, the original volunteers have now been joined by others from the community without whom we could not function.
